It is hard to get by when you don’t have much money.

  • get up (arise = a se trezi)

Every morning I get up at 7 o’clock, but today I was late.

  • go back (return to a place = a se intoarce intr-un loc)

We will never go back to that restaurant.

  • go on (continue = a continua, a merge mai departe)

Whatever happens, life goes on.

  • go on (2) (happen = a se intampla)

I heard a noise in the night so I went to see what is going on.

  • grow up (get older = a creste)

Jane grew up and now she is a great doctor.

  • keep away (remain at a distance = a pastra distanta)

She told him to keep away of that matter.

  • keep on (with gerund) (continue with the same = a continua)

The student kept on being rude, so the teacher told him to leave the classroom.

  • pass out (lose consciousness, faint = a lesina)

She was hit on the head and passed out for several minutes.

  • show off (demonstrate haughtily = a se da mare)

He was trying to show off in front of the girls.

  • show up (arrive = a sosi)

Efrain finally showed up, apologising for being late.

  • wake up (arouse from sleep = a se trezi)

I woke up when my sister made noise around me.
